What I Teach
I teach a combination of Hatha & Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga and Kinesiological Stretching… a combination to increase your awareness of being in control of not only your physical but mental and emotional body as well.
Hatha Yoga enables us to dive deeper into the asanas and learn to develop proper alignment to prevent the body to compensate in certain areas. This builds stability and strength. Controlling the breath to flow evenly while the physical body is still builds concentration and focus. It teaches our body and mind to be more disciplined in challenging situations.
Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga is both its own style (a unique expression of) Hatha yoga, and a set of physical and energetic alignment principles, core postures and core philosophies that any student can use.
The poses are designed to release tension from the outer superficial body, and re-activate the inner body muscles to support the spine and joints from the inside out, instead of pressurizing them from the outside in. This Deep Core line activation makes the poses stronger, yet lighter, since we are not gripping the poses with the outer body, which makes the poses too heavy, and weights the joints and spine.
Kinesiological stretching is used to avoid the stretch reflex, while increasing the range of motion of a specific muscle. This is strikingly different from previously known stretching techniques, which look to increase the ROM (or Range of motion) in a specific degree of freedom of a joint or group of joints.
The method is based in the science of Kinesiology, how the human body works, how all its components interact with one another, and what ACTIONS for each muscle are involved. It uses a “target-leverage” system of muscle actions, and is directly related with Kinesiology in this regard.
In order to be the change we wish to see in the world,we first have to know what we want to see changed…and then cultivate the strength to BE it,through all our actions, words and agreements. In order to do this…we have to turn inside and nourish/transform ourselves as much as we offer out.
